THE HOTTEST 2010 BOWMAN CHROME AUTOGRAPH CARDS

Aroldis Chapman, P, Cincinnati MLB DOB: 2/28/88

The hardest thrower to come around (ever), Chapman signed for 30 million dollars before throwing a single pitch. Last year he had trouble adjusting to life in America, specifically the social aspect as he defected from Cuba. Many think he took this on the field with him. By mid-season the Reds saw that they were in a pennant race and decided to make him a reliever. Boy did he show off, clocked at an amazing 105 MPH (still up for debate) and was torture on lefties. This is not Chapman’s first autograph but it is his first Chrome Autograph.

Tyler Chatwood, P, LAA Angels, MLB DOB: 12/16/89

Chatwood’s 2011 got off to a slow start. After just pitching a few innings he was pulled from the game. I feared he may have injured himself but instead he was called up to the bigs. Chatwood stays in the mid 90’s with good secondary pitches. In 2010 he led the California league in ERA, which is known as the best hitters league there is. Drafted in the 2nd round in 2008, Chatwood has shown improvement each season and even with his small stature, (5’10”) he is able to gas it up. He already has an Elite auto, Playoff Contenders, and Prime Cuts out of 2008 so his 2010 Chrome may not be his best Autograph, but is definitely the most plentiful.  Going into last night he had a 1-1 record in 3 starts with a 3.50 ERA and has held opponents to hit just .250.

Miguel Sano, SS, Minnesota DOB: 5/11/93

Still just 17 years old, Sano has a bright future. In his first season of pro ball he hit over .300 with an OPS just under .900. Sano is on this list because of his age, as he has not started his 2011 season with a minor league affiliate of the Twins. He will begin the season at Rookie Ball/ Short Season and should quickly move through Minnesota’s system since there are no roadblocks for him to hurdle at SS.

Shelby Miller, P, St Louis, Hi-A DOB: 10/10/90

The Cards top prospect, Miller is a strikeout king- whiffing 140 in just over 100 innings in 2010. This year, he already has 32 Ks in just 22 IP, as he has been on the tough side of close decisions thus far in 2011. Miller is still just one year out of high school and is already dominating high-A batters. Miller has 1 other autograph, a 2009 Elite Extra Autograph but this Bowman issue seems to be the best buy, especially Refractor versions.

Robbie Erlin, P, Texas High-A DOB: 10/8/90

Erlin had an amazing 2010 and has followed it up with a great beginning to 2011. In 4 games, Erlin is 1-0 with a 2.86 ERA and sports 26 Ks in just 22 IP. He also has held opponents to an amazingly low average of .174. Last year, Mr. Erlin pitched his way into the rotation posting an ERA in the low 2’s. This card stands to pay off at one of the highest rate of returns of anyone.

Juerys Familia, P, NY Mets High A DOB: 10/10/89

The breakout prospect of 2011, Familia has been dominant in the Florida State League. In 4 games he is 1-0 with a 0.35 ERA and has held opponents to just a .110 batting average, to go along with 25K/7BB ratio. Familia was rocked last year in the same league but now, a year older, and a year wiser has made Familia a better prospect. Unlike most players on the list, this is Familia’s only card.

Kyle Seager, 2B Seattle AA DOB: 11/3/87

After Seattle drafted Dustin Ackley #2 overall, and then drafted Nick Franklin with another first round pick, they went middle infield with their 3rd pick as well. Seager had an amazing 2010 hitting a whopping .345 in the California league and was among minor league leaders in average. Seager has not slowed down since being promoted to AA hitting .312 with a HR and 13 RBI’s in 18 games.  His 09 Elite may be his earliest card, but this one remains in higher demand.

Gary Sanchez, C, NY Yankees, Lo-A DOB:12/2/92

The biggest mover in 2010, Sanchez came out of nowhere to land himself in most people’s top 30 prospects, as a catcher who can hit is not easy to come by. He paced all GCL hitters in 2010 and slugged his way into SS rookie ball. In 2011, he started the year out in Low A and has struggled to put it kindly. He’s managing a .209 average with diminished playing time with the emergence of fellow Yankee’s catching prospect JR Murphy’s success. His 2010 Bowman Chrome is his most desired card, although the 2010 EEE auto is not a bad pickup.

Kyle Gibson, P, Minnesota,  AAA DOB: 10/23/87

One of the top College arms in the ‘09 draft, Gibson fell due to injury issues. He was one of the most major league ready arms in that draft as he has started the season in 2011 at AAA Rochester. His first 2 starts were not anything special but his 3rd he pitched 6 innings and allowed just 1 hit and 6k’s. (He had a nice outing last night as well- see the minor league update).  If Minnesota has an injury in their rotation look for them to call up Gibson and for him to make an immediate impact. His only other card is, once again, 2009 Elite.  This 2010 Bowman Chrome Autograph is his only other auto.
