Topps, the exclusive producing of Minor League Baseball cards, is confirming that highly-touted prospect Bryce Harper will appear on his very first  minor league card in the upcoming 2011 Topps Pro Debut (6/1).  The base card will feature Harper in his Hagerstown Suns uniform. (image attached)

I’ve seen about 10 cases of the 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection FB busted.  It looks decent so far.  I definitely like the box toppers better than last year.  I think the fold out cards are very cool.  The RCs look nice as always.  Although some of the guys (Mark Sanchez and Kenny Britt for sure) signed their RCs on the actual patch instead of on the card.  That hurts those cards in my opinion.  The overall content is solid, but not amazing from what I’ve seen.  Some nice patches and some nice cards, but nothing huge yet.  I did see a Stafford RC today, so it was a pretty solid case.  I do wish there was more veteran content in there like Marino, Elway, Aikman, Emmitt and others.  It’s by far the best RC content product I’ve ever seen though.  Plus the inscription cards are cool.  By the way, does anyone know what “The Stafford Effect” is?  I saw that Matthew Stafford wrote that as his inscription and I have no idea what that means.

Tim Tebow Signs Draft Pick Exclusive with Press Pass®

Charlotte, N.C – Heisman Trophy winner and college legend, Tim Tebow has signed an exclusive agreement with Press Pass for trading cards. Under terms of the agreement, Press Pass Football and Press Pass Portrait Edition will be the only “draft pick” products to contain authentic autograph cards and trading cards of the former Florida Gator star.
2010 Press Pass Football provides collectors a great opportunity to obtain on-card autographs of Tebow and the other top stars of this year’s rookie crop, delivering 5 signatures per hobby box from seven distinct autograph levels. Press Pass Football is scheduled for a March 31st release. Press Pass Portrait Edition, new for 2010, will deliver an autograph card in every other pack and is slated for a May 6th release.
“We are thrilled to bring collectors the first autograph cards of Tim Tebow, who many consider to be the best college player of all time,” explained Nick Matijevich, Director of Product Development for Press Pass Inc. “Tim’s great attitude, unprecedented popularity and long list of collegiate accomplishments are certain to make him a collector favorite in addition to a fan favorite.”
The announcement comes on the heels of Tebow blowing teams away at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis over the weekend. While he didn’t throw in drills, opting to wait for his pro-day as he re-tools his throwing motion for the next level, he wowed scouts with a QB record-tying 38.5” vertical leap, a 40 yard-dash of 4.72 seconds, a 9’7” broad jump, and a 6.66 second three-cone drill, which placed him 4th among all skill position players working out. However, the area in which Tim truly separated himself from the pack was the one-on-one interviews. According to Gil Brandt, the legendary former VP of Player Personnel for the Dallas Cowboys and current contributor to NFL.com, “In talking with several team representatives Sunday, I was told that Tebow conducted some of the best interviews of all time.”
“Any time you have the opportunity to work with a player of Tim’s stature, you have to be excited,” said Tom Farrell, VP of Brand Management. “As evidenced by the record number of fans that attended his Senior Bowl practices, and the fact he had a Super Bowl commercial before taking his first NFL snap, there is an unprecedented level of excitement around him that we fully expect to continue throughout his career.”

Hello all,

Welcome to the Atlanta Sports Cards’ Blog.  This portion of the site was created to share information with all of our customers.  We will be posting daily information and news on here.  This is a great place for collectors to come and get information that is unbiased and not skewed towards products we have in stock.

This has been a crazy week for sure.  There have been several new products coming in.  All of the following arrived for shipment this week: 2009 Topps Sterling BB, 2009 Upper Deck Signature Stars BB, 2009 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection BB, 2010 Topps Series 1 BB, 2010 Upper Deck Series 1 BB, 2009 National Treasures FB, 2009 Topps National Chicle FB, 2009-10 Upper Deck Trilogy HK and we just received 2009 Topps Platinum FB for next week.

So far, Ultimate BB looks like the big winner of the group.  It is absolutely loaded with on-card autographs and amazing patches.  The Sterling has looked solid, but not spectacular.  It has some really nice stuff in there, but there have been some complaints about too many current players.  2010 Topps is its usual self.  Nothing spectacular, but a good, lower-end type of product.  The new brand Signature Stars from Upper Deck appears to be a bit of a mystery so far.  The SP Authentic Letter Autographs and UD Black hits are pretty cool.  However, the box breaks have not been spectacular so far.  It’s still too early to make a judgement on the UD 1 BB.

The National Treasures has some awesome hits in it as usual.  The RC Auto Patches are very nice this year and have some crazy patches on them.  There is also a great mixture of retired content as usual.  Honestly, I haven’t really seen or heard much about the National Chicle.  I think it’s getting a little lost in the shuffle.

There are a ton of exciting products coming in the next few weeks.  We will try to post mini reviews about every product that comes in.  Eventually, we’d love to break a box of every product and show it off to our customers.

This blog is something that should end up being a lot of fun for everyone.  It will be a great place to get information.  Anytime there is breaking news in the industry, we will try to be the first to report it here on our blog.
